Summer lawn care
Our Summer season is becoming warmer with temperatures in excess of 30°C. Whilst this sounds appealing to most of us basking in the heat, high temperatures like this are quite damaging to our lawns.
Here are some tips to keep your lawn healthy and drought free throughout the Summer months;
Water your lawn! This is such a crucial step to take during hotter and drier weather.
We recommend watering the entire lawn, every third day of no significant rainfall - pay attention to any areas under shade as these are unlikely to receive any rainfall or water from a sprinkler.
Aim to water in the morning before the stronger midday sun or later in the evening when the sun has gone down.
Mowing your lawn- When you mow your lawn, you should increase the cut height to 2 inches. This will help your lawn to retain its plant health.
Weeds- During Summer time, you may see more weeds growing into your lawn. Alongside our Summer lawn treatments, we will also target the weeds with our weed control application.
Be aware of lawn diseases! When looking at your lawn, you may notice a red tint in some areas. This is called “Red thread". You can read more about common lawn diseases here.
Chafer grubs / Leather jackets- These lawn pests are at their prime during Summer. In order to spot them, you may notice patches of your lawn losing its colour, and looking bleak.
